Waconia Ride-In

January 27, 2017 - January 29, 2017

Midwest Vintage Snowmobile Shows, Inc. (MVSS) is pleased to extend an invitation to attend the 27th annual Midwest Ride-In now known as the Waconia Ride-In. We are located at the Waconia Minnesota Lakeside Ballroom Event Center on beautiful Lake Waconia. This is our 23rd year at Waconia and we have a great weekend planned for you.

It’s time again to thank all of last year’s participants who attended in huge numbers despite a lack of ice and snow. Having said that even with those issues, we probably had the best weekend out of a lousy winter to host the event. Just enough snow made the lake riding pretty good, but it sure was disappointing to have to cancel the weekends racing programs due to not enough ice to comfortably take the heavy track prepping equipment onto the lake. Our Minnesota Orphans theme was a huge hit. We had almost 30 brands alone inside the ballroom. Great theme supported with a huge turnout of awesome sleds. We say thank you!

Gates will open at noon Friday (not before) for vendor set up and trailer drop off. Admission buttons are required to enter Friday and the best deal is to pre-register for a $20 weekend button set. Get your buttons at the gate Friday for $25. Save money and pre-register today. Children 12 and under are free. The Carver County Snowrunners Snowmobile Club will assist you Friday with trailer drop off from noon till dusk. Ballroom access will be limited this year on Friday during the day due to ballroom set-up. The drag race track may open up a test and tune lane mid-afternoon. Our annual Friday night Ice Breaker Party is right at the Ballroom from 7-10 pm with cash bar, silent auction and lots of fun door prizes. Your first chance to get your new Waconia Ride-In Sweatshirt and clothing. Ballroom doors close at 10:00 for Saturday A.M. set-up.

Here comes Saturday. Lots going on, in fact, please read the agenda on page 13 to make sure you don’t miss something. Key things to know; swapper entry starts at 7:00, spectator parking opens at 7:30, ballroom opens at 8:00 with merchandise sales at 9:00, the huge trail ride leaves at 11:00, MVSS Drag Racing at 11:30, Sunday Show sled pre-registration inside the ballroom from 1:00 to 3:00 and our Classics (all sleds welcome) trail ride at 2:00. Back for their 2nd year at the Ride-In will be the “Yellow Fever Club” and with, ice permitting, their own parking area on the lake and their own special Ski-doo show Saturday from noon – 2:00. If you are a Ski-doo guy or gal, you will want to be part of this. Don’t forget to check out the ballroom to see all the special Feature Sleds which this year is the combo of Sno-Jet and Kawasaki and we are expecting a great turnout. Ballroom will close promptly at 4:00 for set-up of the evening banquet.

Saturday night’s Banquet is always a great time. Ballroom doors reopen at 6:00 with a NEW 6:30 DINNER TIME. This banquet is by RSVP and does require a dinner ticket to get in the door. Another great reason to pre-register. Usual great meal, great speakers, fun and lively Auction and the Live Auction of two Make-A-Wish Charity Sleds being built by two separate crews, one a top of the line trail performance 1975 Sno-Jet SST F/A and the 2nd being an equally hot 1980 Kawasaki Invader 340. Two chances to win and support a great cause. Thanks so much to our build teams! Also later in the evening the announcement of the 2018 Feature Snowmobile!!

Sunday brings a new opportunity for anyone interested in swapping who was maybe too busy Saturday to sit and tend to a swap space. Swap spaces are free on Sunday. You will want to hit the ballroom early when doors open at 8:00. Lots of Silent Auction goodies and show registration opens at 8:00 if you did not pre-register or register Saturday afternoon. Show judging takes place from 11-1 so be sure to get parked early. Check out the 2nd year of our new Ultimate Builder Class and of course watch that 1986-1995 Classics Class continue to grow. Get down to the lake for the Oval Racers Alliance over races starting around 11:00. Loud Snowmobile Contest at 1:00 (Must be 1995 or older). Awards presentation at 3:00 inside the ballroom. See you at Waconia!!
